Help Choosing Math Course

I am currently a freshman in highschool and is choosing classes for next year. Currently, I'm in Algebra II Pre-AP, so I have 3 years left for Stats/Pre-Calc/Calculus (all AP of course).

However, I'm not sure whether to take Stats or Pre-Calc next year. My teacher recommends taking Stats, but given that she is the Stats teacher and I will probably forget everything I've learned in Algebra II, but Pre-Calc is probably a much more vigorous course and I'm not sure if I can handle it (see username). Another option is to take both of them, but that would really take too much effort and 3 APs (taking World History AP for sure unless I take it in the summer and then take APUSH).

So what do you think?

First, Pre-Calc is not AP course(unless you are saying AP Calc AB as Pre-Calc).

Anyway, I do recommend you to take pre-calc. Stat is very different from other math courses, and it will be better for you to continue with precalculus so that you won’t forget as you mentioned. Also, there isn’t much work for Stat unless you have really harsh teacher so you might consider taking both if you are confident in math.

You can take both concurrently.

But if you choose to take only one, definitely take Pre-Calculus. It’s the next step on the math ladder, stats is not a “real math”.

SighI would’ve suggested to take both if it weren’t for your username. Stats and Precalc are pretty easy to understand. If you’re getting an A in Algebra then you should really take both. Stats doesn’t really even require pre calc.

Anyway, if you don’t want both, then pre calc. Pre calc is a lot of algebra. If you take it junior year, you might forget some of the algebra. So take it next year while it’s still fresh in your mind.
