HELP civil engineering

I'm an international student (from Southeast Asia). So I was all set and ready to head to London to study civil engineering, and then out of the blue, I got an offer from Carnegie Mellon.

University College London (UCL)
- a 4-year MEng degree
- cheaper than CMU
- got friends and family in the UK
- Intel research center about to be built in London
- top school in Europe, better international reputation

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU)
- a 4-year BS (likely 3 yrs since I've got extra credit)
- better engineering education/research (??)
- option to minor

My head is exploding now... Help me out here guys!

Just a bump and some more info…

CMU is gonna cost me 17k more each year than UCL. But I have confirmed it will be for a 3-year BS. Is it worth?

Both offer great opportunities and you should take whatever one you feel comfortable with. I’d go with UCL on cost, but if you like CMU/Pittsburgh then go here! Congrats.

“17k more each year” - that’s too much debt - go to UCL.

Thanks guys, cost-wise UCL seems to be a clear choice, but it feels bad to give up an opportunity to study at such a prestigious engineering school as CMU. Only a few days left to make a decision…

I really think that there is no advantage as per international reputation between the two schools. You will get equal wow signs for any person who have a good background of both schools outside of the States. It comes down to where you would really prefer to study. Either way you choose, you will have given up a great university. Make a decision that you can live with. Congratulations on both admissions!
