I am from Northern VA, about 20 min outside of DC. I have been to accepted to University of Colorado Boulder, Penn State, Ohio State, and Clemson, all straight into the College of Engineering. I visited CU first and absolutely fell in love with it (who couldn't), but I think I got so excited because it was my first college visit. Now I have visited OSU and PSU. I don't like OSU, but I do like PSU. I don't think I can go so far away from home for undergrad school. I think I might go to Penn State, but I need some advice about the pros and cons of each! Please help!

CU = Clemson or Colorado? haha

CU= University of Colorado Boulder

I say go to Penn State. You clearly aren’t comfortable with going to CU because of distance (not to mention Penn State has a better engineering program)

there is a lot to do outside of campus though at CU: Denver, skiing, hiking, fishing, any outdoor activity. there doesn’t seem much to do outside of penn state except happy valley

Is UVA not on your list? I would not pay for Penn State over UVA, if so. Boulder is about as good as it gets for a college environment (or an adult environment, for that matter).

No, UVA is not on my list. It doesn’t have a good engineering program like CU or Penn State. Cost is no problem for me, so that does not alter my decision. I feel like Penn State has a good environment too though.

Why don’t you think you can’t go so far from home? Flying to Denver won’t take much longer than driving to PSU.

take it what you may but on Princeton Review, Penn State’s quality of life rating is 97 while Colorado’s is 79. I’ve never been to Boulder or University Park and I know Princeton Review’s survey has many flaws in it but obviously some students enjoy being at Penn State.

I can drive home whenever but I can’t fly home whenever I want to. And there are a lot of kids at penn state and they have a lot of school spirit so I wouldn’t be surprised that they rate so high.
