Heres the deal: I am 21 and live in CT. Ive attended community college for 2 yrs (by my second semester, my parents convinced me to focus on early childhood ed). The plan (dictated by my parents) was for me to graduate from CC -- transfer and complete BA and MA in elementary ed. I was only a few courses away from earning my associates but instead, after a terrible 09 spring semester, I decided to take this year off.

I plan on tackling my remaining courses this summer and to make things easier, Ive decided to change majors from ECE to general studies. This will free me from the chains of CC much faster and I really want to start making up for all the time that Ive wasted. And based on my personality, I know that I need to pick a major, create some sort of 10 year plan and stick to it. No exceptions.

I hope I do not sound too ridiculous when I say this but I do see myself becoming a teacher in the future but I would first like to explore another career. Then maybe after I settle down and start a family a career change like teaching would be a more practical option (that I would enjoy).

If I decide to focus on a major involving marketing, business, or fashion merchandising .complete BA in said field .would I be able to teach elementary school (if I completed MA Ed and followed certification guidelines for CT)

Ive been researching for a bit today and havent come across any substantial info. Your opinions would probable be more useful than any of the websites that Ive been on, anyway. Any input or suggestions would really be great!!

I just feel like Ive been wasting so much time most of my friends are going to be graduating next year and I cant manage to make a decision about what to eat for breakfast .let alone picking a major. I know that this post is long but I am stressing out! Also does anyone have any experience with teach for america?
