I am trying to decide between going to Madison WI, Cal Poly SLO, and Clemson for computer science. Madison seems to have a well recognized program as well as Cal Poly. Clemson doesn't really have a recognized CS program.

Madison and Clemson will cost me about the same and CP will be almost $20,000 more over 4 years. It would seem Madison is the best choice but one of my goals is to get out of the midwest because of the aweful winters. CP and Clemson have the best weather, Clemson is cheaper than CP but doens't seem to have as nice a program. So in deciding between these two, I want to pick the school that will give me the most potential. I don't know how they rank majors but I would imagine I can get a fine education at Clemson even though its not ranked highly. My ultimate goal is to have the potential to get a job just about anywhere I want to after graduation and to make good money as well. How the heck do I decide which school is right for me? I need help.

I think Cal Poly has the best weather but it is also more expensive. I want good weather and academics. For picking between Clemson and CP I have decided to consider both their weather equally good. Now it comes down to cost vs academic strength.

I remember you. Mostly because your search has seemed unusual. You don't seem emotionally tied to any school, just kinda shopping for the best deal.

I think $20K debt in total would be worth it for CalPoly. If you want to get out of the MW and have a CS related career, CA is the place to be so I would get my education there. You are very solid with a CS degree throughout the region. More intnls are looking at it recently.

I love that area of the CA coast and think it's much better weather than the humidity in Carolina!

Suze- You are right that I don't have any strong feelings for any school. Maybe it is because I have not visited any and don't really know what they are like aside from all the stats I look at. The problem with Cal Poly is I can't figure out how much it will cost me to go there. The lady on the phone was not helpful at all! The thing is, I don't really want to live in CA.

I love San Louis Obispo and the coast around CP. It's one on the most beautiful places on earth!! It's a solid school, probably costs about $25K COA OOS.

Time for you to visit, it's not that expensive and you're a senior!!

I don't want to live in CA because of the cost of living. If I could afford a house in the future I would move there but I don't see it happening. I would like to live in North Carolina or further up and maybe Nevada or Washington(the state). I also just found out that Cal Poly housing is full! Housing apps have been available only for a couple days. That doesn't help.
