Im deciding between both of these schools and really like the locations of each and the cost is pretty similar for both schools. Which would be the best for CS in this case?

Definitely check out Cal Poly's Open House that's coming up soon. You can get a great feel for the program there.

I'm not too familiar with Clemson (other than its sports teams).

I live 2000 miles away so I can't really make it out there. Have you taken CS classes there?

I took a general education comp sci class, but nothing more than that (I was a bio major). From my experience at poly, I was always under the impression that the CS program was exceptional. Lots of recruitment with very good students.

I don't know how much you know about cal poly, but here are some general facts:

Very nice location. San Luis Obispo is a beautiful, 50K-person town.

A top Calif. public school. Students generally have a 3.8+ and a 1250 SAT (Math and Verbal)

Rather cheap, as it is a CSU school. I'm not sure how out-of-state staus factors in, though.

Good sports. Baseball was Top 25 last year and football has a brand new stadium. Can't compare to ACC sports, though.

Expansion. The school has tons of money through its Centennial Campaign. New buildings include 2 new engineering buildings, a new construction management building, new dorms, the new stadium, and plans for a new library and science and math building.
