Okay, so for my first semester at cal i chose the following classes:

Japanese 1A (just for fun.. i've already fulfilled the foreign lang. requirement)
Anthropology 2AC
Psychology 1
Native American Studies R1A
Total Units: 16

I figured those classes should be fun and not give me too much trouble my first semester..

Now, I'm undecided on my major, and i was wondering if i later on decide i want to major in something math or science related, am i in trouble? I know i didnt sign up for any math or science classes this semester, and i dont know how far behind that'll put me. Will i be able to catch up if i decide on majoring in a science/math? This has really been bothering me lately, so i'd really appreciate any answers you guys may have... thanks in advance

Well, I don’t think it would put you behind that far… but it would be helpful if you can narrow your interests in some way… you don’t have to decide which science/math major to go into, but if you can cut out some unnecessary classes that you know won’t be helpful for your future, it would make the process easier. For instance, perhaps instead of taking Japanese, you can enroll in some general ed class that fulfills a requirement. (that way you won’t be wasting time at least)

you could also check out some of the webcasted lectures on www.webcast.berkeley.edu, and look into some courses you find interesting for the fall (by selecting fall 2008 in the top left corner), which may help you decide whether science/math courses seem like a good fit for you.
