I've been switching back and forth for awhile now...I'm thinking about going into pre-med and johns hopkins seems to have a higher ranking than wash U in their med school...and wash U only accepted 7 people last yr from my state...and according to us news and world reports johns hopkins offers more financial aid (wash u was right behind it) can you guys offer some advice? I was also wondering how do those two compare competition wise? Thank you so much...aslo what other college would u guys suggest

Wash U does a thing to increase their yield (and thus US news ranking) where many more are waitlisted than accepted.. which may account for the # from your state -- so don't worry about that.

Hopkins is at least a bit better for premed, and some would argue significantly better. Wash U is a bit bigger, so take that into account. I think it also has a much bigger endowment, though.

Good luck with your choice.

How difficult is it to go to Hopkins for pre-med? Also, is it difficult to switch majors into pre-med?

Premed isn't a major at Hopkins, and I don't think its one at WashU (though I'm not sure about that). At Hopkins, you can follow any major and apply to med school as long as you follow the track of required pre-med courses.
