HELP! ED2 or stay with me Cornell deferral :(

Hi guys this is Liam.
I applied to Cornell CALS (communications major) for ED1, and got deferred. I’m thinking about applying ED2 to Emory now, but I don’t like Emory that much. Here are some I listed to help me decide–

Pros:

  1. ED2 has a greater acceptance rate, so I may have a good chance of getting in. It feels like wasting a good opportunity if I don’t apply ED2 to any school.
  2. I read that about 25% of Cornell’s ED applicants were deferred to the RD round this year, so realistically, the chances of getting accepted are pretty slim.
  3. Emory is a good university, and I will probably like it more if I got accepted.
    Cons:
  4. Currently, Emory is not my dream school. My personal ranking for colleges goes like:
Cornell (ED1, deferred)>Notre Dame(RD)>USC(applied for merit scholarship)/NYU>Emory> Pepperdine(accepted)/Babson/Smith>others (UCLA, UCB, UCSB, UCI, UCD, UCSD, UVa, UNC, Miami, UofT). If I get in, I have to say goodbye to the other colleges I like more :frowning:

Btw I’m an international student and I don’t have any problem with the tuition.

Any suggestions??? Really struggling to make a decision!
(and it would be great if you have Cornell deferred then accepted rate/Emory ED2 acceptance rate)

Thanks for reading this super long question. Have a happy holiday!

If Emory is that far down your list then just wait for RD. Especially, since you applied for USC merit scholarship.

Why would in the world would you commit to a school in an ED round that you don’t like at all. It’s counter intuitive for a kid as bright as you are obviously.

Emory is great but if not for you look elsewhere.

If you like NYU more than Emory, then why not apply ED2 there?

Thanks for replying! The advices were very helpful.
I didn’t apply ED2 to Emory because it’s not really one of my top choices
anyway I appreciate the replies. all the best!
