I want to go to school to learn how to help protect the environment. What schools (preferrably state/public schools) have pretty good programs? I know many private schools may have good programs, but I can't afford any more than probably $25,000/year unless I get some kind of large scholarship. I'm already at my community college in my third semester and I want to transfer to a 4 year by next Fall. What kind of colleges should I look at? If I go in-state I can look at Ohio State, Ohio U, Kent State, Akron University, etc. Any public Ohio schools that have a good environmental science program??

Environmental Science isn’t the only applicable major. Have a look into:

Aquatic and fisheries science
Biology
Botany
Ecology
Environmental Engineering
Forestry
Geology
Natural Resource Management e.g. wildlife management, land management
Sustainable Agriculture
Urban Planning

Miami of Ohio and Ohio State are both strong schools for the (incredibly broad) subject. I know less about any of the other schools on your list although I’ve heard good things about Kent State’s geology program which MAY indicate that its environmental offerings are strong.
