So, after 3 years and some change in the army, I’m getting ready to get out and start college. I’d like to get a degree in accounting, its in demand, and marketable, and I’ve always been good with, and really enjoyed working with numbers, math, finance, that sort of thing. I was thinking about Michigan State, and University of Virginia, among a few others. Michigan State has a dedicated undergrad accounting program, while Virginia just has a Business Degree with an accounting concentration. My question is, will a degree like the one at Virginia (which is what I’ve seen at a few other schools I’ve looked at) prepare me, and give me just as much of a chance at a job in that field as a regular accounting degree, or am I better off just going the straight accounting route?
Consider James Madison University: it has a well-known School of Accounting, where you can get both Bachelors and Masters (and the credits necessary to qualify for CPA).
There is also an accounting concentration math degree which I have heard prepares you very well for the exams.
