Okay this isn't really a chance but I don't know where else to post this so yeah. I want to apply to 10 schools total and I have 6 so far. I will post a brief academic profile for some reference.

These are the colleges I know I am applying to:

Reach:
University of Chicago
Northwestern
WashU
Cornell
Stanford

Match: None yet

Safety:
UW (seattle)

These are the colleges I am considering:

University of Rochester
University of Notre Dame
Wake Forest University
Duke University
Brown University
Dartmouth College
Emory University
Vanderbilt University

Considering only my academic stats and the fact that I want to do pre med, which 4 schools should I add to the list? Please list reasons if you can. Also any suggestions for ED/EA? I have legacies at Stanford and UW. Also the reason I only have one saftey is that if I get rejected from every relativley competative school I would be content to go to UW. Thanks guys.

Assuming that your ECs/recs/essays etc. are on par with your numbers, you’ll be competitive at pretty much all of the schools on your list. If Stanford is your first choice and you have Legacy there, EAing would be a good choice.

I would say that my recs/essays will definetly be on par with my numbers but my EC’s are kind of meh. Like there is nothing amazing about them, just your standard 3 varsity sports with one leadership position, a few clubs with leadership positions, and a little volunteering.

I am strongly considering EA-ing to Stanford however I can’t help but think that I would be wasting it because there are so many ridiculously impressive people that apply there and get rejected.

Also I have considered Rice/Tufts but they didn’t make the final cut.

I think you only big reach is Stanford. The other “reaches” you have I would consider semi-reach/match, but are still very competition. The legacies will undoubtedly help you at Stanford, and if that’s really where you want to go EA there. Basically, with MIT, Stanford, Ivies etc. its almost a complete crap-shoot; there are so many qualified candidates that you never know who will get in; I would just go for it - you fall right in with all the competitive candidates, there’s really no reason you shouldn’t get in, its just there might be others which are more qualified. If I were you I would consider Notre Dame, Duke, Emory, Dartmouth. All are superb schools and have really good acceptance rates to Med. School. Best of luck!

competative !?!?! Ivy??!?!
If you want to go to a decent school use your legacy to try to get into Stanford. They just concentrate on 10-20% cream of the crop with nearly half the undergrads being just average intelligence anyways. If your parents have money or connections or legacy status it’s worth a shot. Stanford doesn’t have a pre-med program per se so allows their average students to nearly design their own as long as get all the bio pre-req’s completed.

^^ I checked out the websites and data for those for schools and they look really intriguing however would it be wise to have a list so top heavy? I mean I could certainly see myself getting accepted to most of these schools but I could also see myself getting rejected from any/all (besides UW). I think I am being pessimistic but this whole college application process is so intimidating…

^ Alright you guys have convinced me, I doing Stanford REA. It makes sense because that is my first choice and if I get in I don’t even have to apply anywhere else.
