Help finding a school

Hi! I am from South America but I am living in the USA as a resident so I will NOT apply as an international student. I am studying at a community college and I intend to transfer to a four year college that has an undergraduate social work program. I was wondering if you guys could suggest me schools that are supposed to be generous offering scholarships (full ride or something similar) since I really can’t afford any more debt right now. I have 52 credits and a 3.96 GPA. No ACT or SAT. I am willing to go to any state in the country. I don’t really care about the school characteristics such as size, setting, style, religious affiliation, etc. I just would love to have a good education for an affordable price.

Please tell us more. What is your resident state? What is your FAFSA EFC? How much can your family contribute?

Is there a university close to where you live that has a BSW?

Getting lots of aid as a transfer student can be very difficult.

That said, apply to USC…awesome SW program.

I live in New York. The closest one is New Paltz but my husband can’t find a job in the area so I am trying to find another options. So far my only option is Stony Brook. My EFC is 0. Do you mean University of Southern California? I don’t think they have a BSW. Just the masters.

Are you getting state rates in NY? If so, I wouldn’t move out of state until you finish college because you’ll pay nonresident rates in other states. If you’re a state resident, you won’t find more affordable than commuting to a SUNY, especially if you qualify for TAP and Pell. The combined award is ~$10k which is enough to cover the tuition and books if you’re getting state rates.

What type of work does your husband do? Does he plan to look for a job in the City? I think I’d apply to New Paltz and Stony Brook but not matriculate anywhere until you know where your husband will be working.

Maybe the CUNYs?

The deadlines for CUNY already passed :frowning: Anyway, thanks. I appreciate it.
