My friend was recently accepted to NYU. It's undoubtedly her dream school and she is thrilled. Unfortunetly, her financial aid package is a complete disappointment with next to nothing in grants. Her parents are really pushing her towards Northeastern and GW b/c she recieved a wealth of aid, but I know she'd be devestated if she didn't get to NYU. Is there anything that she can do at this point? Would NYU match another school's FA package; would an appeal work?

you can appeal but the most they'll give you is $2,000. I talked to the financial office while I visted and thats what a financial officer told me. So I would guess your first response is...thats not enough. Tell your friend that if she really wants to go, she'll have to have the willingness to be in debt. I'll be in debt, my friend who's planning on attending will be in debt, and i'm sure the next person i meet will be to.

debt debt debt debt! youre absolutley right.

same here!!
i think the majority at NYU is in huge debt, which they will hopefully be able to pay after graduation with the well-paid job they'll get after NYU education... (**hopeeeeeeefullly)
