My friend was recently accepted to NYU. It's undoubtedly her dream school and she is thrilled. Unfortunetly, her financial aid package is a complete disappointment with next to nothing in grants. Her parents are really pushing her towards Northeastern and GW b/c she recieved a wealth of aid, but I know she'd be devestated if she didn't get to NYU. Is there anything that she can do at this point? Would NYU match another school's FA package; would an appeal work?

no, NYU won't match.

Your friend should go to Northeastern or GW where she has a generous aid package. Those are both good choices and they want her.

She will get an excellent education at either of her other schools.

Life is full of disappointments. At some point or another, we all have to learn how to put them in perspective and take them in stride.

an appeal won't work for nyu. the school's not reputable in giving generous fin aid.

i'm in the same situation. my dream school is very expensive and i received only loans. but i'll be attending a cheaper school...planning to get an mba after undergrad.

is your friend going to graduate school? if yes, forget about nyu. if no, she should go if she doesn't mind paying off school loans as an adult.
