HELP! Freshmen housing selection process

Hello! Hoping someone can clear something up for me. My son has been accepted for Fall 2014. In May he will receive a lottery time and will go in and pick a building and room for his Freshman year. My understanding is that there are a few all-freshmen dorms on each green and the rest are mixed with upperclassmen. My question is: when my son goes in to pick a room-- does it tell him if the others in the room are freshman or upperclassmen? He doesn't want to put himself in a room where he is the only freshman. It is important for him to live with other Freshmen because he will be coming from out of state and won't know anyone there. He is really not interested in fishing for roommates on Facebook because that whole process can be awkward and would happily go random as long as he is assured a Freshman roommate. Thanks for any input!!

Hi, my son is an incoming freshman as well from New York. I found this tutorial which will help you through the process and also shows where upperclassman are located when picking dorm rooms. http://www.ohio.edu/housing/busops/tutorials/general_selection.cfm

It looks fairly straight forward. My son used the search feature under housing to find a roommate and it does match them with kids close in interest and they can chat through email. Hope this all helps.

Thank you so much that is very helpful!!!
