I am going to be a high school junior this coming year in Florida, and I am interested in going to UF and eventually getting into their athletic training program. My freshman year I slacked off and ended up with a 3.1 GPA (atrocious, I know) but this past year I worked hard and made As in all my academic classes, including AP world. Next year I am taking 4 AP classes, AP bio, AP lit, AP psych, and APUSH. I am also taking Spanish 2 online this summer, anticipate high SAT scores, and I am studying my butt of to qualify for the national merit scholarship on the PSATs this year. My problem, however, is that this past year I made Bs in both my 2 dance classes. This brought my unweighted GPA to a 3.4, making me ineligible for NHS at my school and hurting my class rank. I know UF doesnt really look at grades from elective classes, but does that still apply to your arts classes at a performing arts school? Since I anticipate the same grades next year, I have considered switching out into a normal high school, but the only problem with that is that I am currently involved or on my way to a leadership role in a number of ecs (National Dance Honors Society, Community Service Club, Prom Committee, Student Government), and I am in the early stages of starting a program that helps bring arts education to local middle/ elementary schools. If I leave this school, I am afraid I will never be able to get that involved in ecs again. Two more quick questions;
a) I heard that I cant count dance as an ec sine I take it as a class at school. Is this true?
b) I know that you apply to colleges with the GPA from your junior year, however, when you go on a colleges website, and it gives you the high school GPA of the middle 50% of incoming freshmen, is that the GPA the students APPLIED with, or the GPA that they GRADUATED with?

bump!! i want to see the answer to part B
