HELP!! Grades

Hello guys this is my first post, and I’m looking for help. So I’m a sophomore in high school and im doing horrible it all started my 2nd semester of freshmen year. My first
Semester of high school was decent I was getting Mostly Bs, then that 2nd semester
I did horrible getting Ds and lack of motivation and some personal things going on in my life… ever since then it’s been downhill.right now its my 2nd semester of sophomore year and I decided to give 100% of effort and time into school. But my Gpa is very low my culmative Gpa is 1.3-1.7 range I was wondering what type of grades I’d need to maintain for the rest of highschool to get into a decent college. And how many AP classes I should take next year To raise my Gpa I don’t care how many I have to take. Most of my teachers say I’m more then capable of being successful in their class but I don’t do the work. I was wondering if you guys could give me advice and pointers. Sorry for my grammar I was rushing when I wrote this thank you guys for reading!

Honestly, it might be better for you to start at community college. Even if you do get in to a university, your GPA may be too low to get a decent scholarship. There is no shame in going to community college and then transferring to a 4-year university. It is cheaper, and you will often get more individualized attention than you would at an actual university, which sounds like something that would be helpful to you.

For now, I would take only the classes you are 100% confident you will do well in and get A’s and B’s to possibly make you eligible for at least a few scholarships. Also, make sure to work on your study strategies and build up your foundations in every subject. This way, you can do well the next few years and save yourself some money.

Have the personal issues resolved themselves? You need to take care of the motivation problem, perhaps with counseling or seeking some sort of change in your circumstances, otherwise you’re still going to struggle.

If your grades improve over time, your guidance counselor can write a letter explaining the circumstances you overcame and how your later grades are more indicative of your abilities than your earlier ones. Many colleges will look favorably on the improvement trends. Focus on schools that admit about 50% or more of applicants and where your test scores are in range: these schools are more likely cut some breaks to a kid whose early grades are out of range.

Don’t think in terms of how many APs to get your GPA up. Think in terms of what you can do to fix your problems and take the next step towards doing better. Then take the next step after that and so on. Trying to fix everything in one fell swoop by enrolling in all APs is a risky strategy, especially if you haven’t fully addressed whatever has been holding you back.

Hey! I was in the same boat as you in the beginning of high school my GPA was actually a 1.7 the beginning of this year! Lol I played around my first two years and partied with friends what I did is I got rid of the parties and all distraction’s including friends! Which suckered because my friends were awesome but friends come and go and being successful comes first! I am now a junior and I am graduating early with As and Bs going to a university 2hrs from home and I feel great! Find something that motivates you my motivation is graduating early being the first to graduate on my dad’s side and the first to go to college away from home!
