I’ve been messing up really really bad lately both freshman and my sophomore years, I currently have a 1.6 GPA and I don’t know what to do anymore I just can’t focus anymore I feel like I’m doomed wether I try or not. I really want a future I want to go to a good college have a degree but at this point I feel like I’ve messed up far beyond the point of being able to redeem myself. I really don’t have many people to talk about this and try to get it fixed, I’ve told my counselor and In the beginning I actually believed I had a chance but it been almost 2 months and she hasn’t called me up to discuss ways to bring my grades up, I’m desperate now to try and get any help any Im willing to go the extra mile any help? and what do you think are my chances of at least getting into a good college
Hi there, first off, you still have junior year to perform better in high school. Have you identified why you’ve gotten bad grades? Is it the rigor of classes you’re taking too much, are there troubles at home or with your friends, or do you struggle to focus in school?
With a 1.6 GPA, your options for college are limited. I don’t even think you’d be allowed to graduate high school. If you show a huge increase in your junior and senior years - meaning you get at least a 3.0 - you should be able to graduate high school and go to a community college or even state school if you get a 4.0. Don’t stress too much, though. Just be prepared to work hard for the next two years of high school
Thanks for the reply, and to answer your question the reason why I’ve been doing bad in school is because at home I can never seem to focus on homework or studying, I don’t have any private places to do those things I don’t even have a room to myself as a matter of fact so I can’t really focus on homework without being distracted or without being interrupted at least every 10 mins, and also have a limited amount how time to do my homework or Study in my living room without being totally interrupted for the rest of the day
There is still hope but you do need to work on bringing your GPA up. If you are distracted at home maybe going to a library or staying after school will help. There are a lot of good schools even for students whose GPAs aren’t the greatest and you can always start at a community college. Your first priority needs to be bringing up your grades. Good luck. It sounds like you really want to do well and that is the first step. Seek the help of your teachers and most schools have peer tutoring. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help from others.
