help!! HOLY CROSS vs. BOSTON COLLEGE

I got into the College of Arts and Sciences at Boston College and accepted to Holy Cross as "a biology major for premidical/predental sequence".

Which college do you think that could prepare me the best into medical school? I just want to attend the best institution, strive there and go on from there.

What I have heard is to not attend Holy Cross unless you are admitted to its Health Professions Advisory Program at the same time that you are admitted to the college. Holy Cross students in the program have a very high chance of medical school admission (80%). Holy Cross students who are not in the program have a relatively low chance of medical school admission as most medical schools want to accept only those Holy Cross students who were in the program.

Would I be consider just a student? I know biology at Holy Cross is selective. Would this outweigh Boston College's College of Arts and Science? Please help...thank you!!

Permed advising is just that, advising. Sure, HC may have a high admit rate, but that is only of those that apply. I am sure that there are acceptees into the program every year that earn C’s on Frosh Chem or Bio and then are no longer in the premed “program.” OTOH, any Frosh who earns all A’s can join the ‘program’ later. In other words, admissions data for ALL colleges is self-selecting – those who have the gpa+mcat at the end of four years to be competitive apply.

Med school is 80-90% about gpa+mcat, then EC’s. Attend the school that you like best: a LAC or a mid-sized Uni. Small town, vs. Boston. Or, which is cheaper?

I agree that the two colleges are roughly quite comparable in many respects including both being Jesuit-run colleges. HC is 1/3 the size of BC and not as big-time sports culture as BC. Be sure to visit both campuses and pick the one you feel most at home at.
