Help! hows the social life at UCSB and UCLA?

Ive narrowed down my final two choices to these two UCs because I want to stay in Socal. They are both great and highly ranked, but how will my life outside of the classroom be? Are both schools easy to make friends at? Activities and so on? I'm just concerned because one my friends told me that UCLA students don't like helping each other because they fear lower grades, is that usually true? I want to be in a collaborative environment with friendly people. Anyone have any first hand experience? Is the HW about the same mount at both universities? Also, is it true that most UCSB students don't have BF/GF and would rather just hookup? Will I be excluded for not wanting to hook up? Please help if you can!! Im freaking out because I don't don't feel comfortable choosing one over the other yet.

Also anyone know where I can look up the average gpa for exiting seniors?

Of the UCs, UCLA and UCSB are two of the best in terms of social life. I’ve heard that at Berkeley some people will try to sabotage you if you get friendly with them and try asking for help, but I don’t know if that’s something that happens at the other schools.

Two extremes, you will have 0 friends or a lot of friends from my experience.

Im not sure what you mean Philosoup. Anavera yeah both universities seem to have the best social environment of all the UCs from all the reviews I’ve looked up.
