Okay, so I was happily going to Taft in just 8 days. I had gotten wait-listed at St. Paul's when I applied, which I was totally okay with.
The thing is, most of my family [my mom, my 2 uncles, my grandfather, my great grandfather] have all gone to St. Paul's. I really liked the school when I visited, and if I had gotten accepted in March I would've gone to SPS.
BUT I didn't, hence why I was going to Taft.
UNTIL yesterday, when SPS called and said they had space. It doesn't help that I've been with the SPS side of my family since then, and everyone is telling me different things. I know it's my decision not theirs, but it's still really complicated....
I've started talking to people from Taft, so I feel like I sort of have a connection with the school, but a bigger one from SPS.
I'm so confused!

Oh and I don't mean to sound like this is a bad thing and I'm mad about it-as my parents said it's a great problem to have being wanted in two places...it's just really stressful because I'm already nervous about boarding school and I thought all the decision making was over!!

Just stick with Taft for now. You can always transfer to SPS after a semester or the year. Or maybe by then you'll be so in love with Taft that you won't even think about SPS.
And about your family- just start a new legacy at Taft. Or start a legacy where people in your family attend either SPS or Taft.

you cant transfer to SPS.
i would advise you to go to SPS because its AMAZING and ive talked to alot of the newkids and they're great.
but if you like Taft, you should go.
but you should decide soon since i know SPS starts on friday for new kids

Really tough call. SPS is a wonderful school, but so is Taft. If you eliminate the sense of budding loyalty you feel to the Taft relationships that you've started, and you eliminate the white noise from your legacy SPS family members, based on everything you know today today, where would you feel most welcome, most able to thrive, most happy?

Taft and SPS are wonderful schools. You can't go wrong, either way you choose. If you have the financial freedom to follow your heart, then choose the school you prefer.

I suggest you make a quick decision. If you accept SPS's offer, let Taft know of your decision immediately, as there may still be students on the waitlist who would jump at the chance to attend Taft. Likewise, if you decide to attend Taft, there are probably still students who would jump at the chance to attend SPS.

Do factor into your decisions, though, the fact that Taft accepted you, and SPS put you on the waitlist.

Good point, periwinkle, about Taft accepting and SPS waitlisting. SPS school may have waitlisted you (rather than rejected) because of your many legacies. I realize that that is a rather uncomfortable thought.

Thats exactly what I thought-and I did the whole I'm too good for SPS anyway act (which was totally fake because i'm not at ALL) ...
My family is all SPS is the best haha but my parents have told EVERYONE that it's my decision and I can do what I want with it.
I really like all the freedom at SPS, and a lot of the things about it-before the wait-list letter came I thought I'd do really well there.
It also is a little bit closer to my parents [don't know if this is good or bad] and my uncle designs some of the buildings or things around campus so he's there a lot....
at sps are you allowed to go off campus easily??

yeah just call a cab and you can go as long as you have no commitments
you just cant break town hours
and theres a shuttle bus on saturday that goes to JCrew the mall and main street

Facebook people from SPS... Talk to them for a day. See if they match up to taft... You are pretty stuck. SPS calling with only 8 days left is a little... Difficult.

This comparable to an athlete who makes a verbal commitment to his second choice school, but then has a great summer on the field. His first choice comes calling. Most coaches will advise that student to sign with the best school or first choice...SPS. Not even close.

I decided to go to SPS, the family thing being a big influence...but I'm happy with my decision!
Now only 3 days to pack and read summer reading....oh my.
