Help - I waited too long to send ACT scores

I just ordered them today electronically for schools with a Jan. 1 deadline and now I’m afraid they won’t get there in time. What can I do?

You ordered or your daughter did?

When applying to a top college, it helps to read how they describe requirements. (As well as what they look for. If the applicant doesn’t, how do they know how to make their best presentation?

I ordered them today and Tufts - which is one of our schools - is a Jan. 1 application deadline. But I just talked to the ACT and it goes electronically so it should get there in time, even if they don’t process it right away. Here I thought I was in plenty of time!

Jan application deadline. That does not mean all materials. If a teacher doesn’t send an LoR by 1/1, they don’t stamp her Rejected.

The link says she can self report, on the app. So why this rush?
Try that link. And find the same for any other colleges. This is part of being properly informed. And having some needed perspective.

As noted Tufts accepts self-reported across in the application, so if you do that you meet the requirement. In any event, for Tufts it makes no difference because, despite having a Jan 1 app deadline, it accepts scores that arrive after that deadline, and, in fact, accepts through the Feb ACT test for regular admission.

You do not mention your other colleges but most with a Jan deadline accept test scores that arrive after the deadline, so sending them now is fine…

There is a minority that specifically state on their sites that test scores must be submitted by the application deadline. But there is a practice of even most of those colleges that renders that requirement a “soft” requirement. Come late Jan or early Feb, if they do not have a complete application file from you and it is missing test scores, they will send you a notice informing you that your application file is missing test scores and that you need to get them in promptly to be considered for admission. In essence, they give you a second chance to send missing items.
