[Amazon.com: The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition (9780874478525): The College Board: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Official-SAT-Study-Guide-2nd/dp/0874478529/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1268446986&sr=8-1)

Using this book, my guess is that you’ll writing score will go up to at least a 60 and reading to at least 50+.

anyone else?

The easiest way for you to improve reading would be to study Direct Hits Vocabulary really hard. Then I suggest practicing at least one CR reading passage from Blue Book every single night and go over every answer explanation.

what else can i do? cuz i am hoping to get around 700 on each

Do more practice. It’s hard to jump up 400 points, so I would get started if I were you. Practice, practice, practice. The more questions you do, the more you get familiar with them.

anyone else? please help me, thank you.

There is great SAT prep advice right here at the top of this forum. Check-out Xiggi’s SAT advice–helped my S improve his scores. There is a lot of information, but basically post #16 is what I think is most important. Xiggi advises taking many practice tests & starting without time limits and with an open book. Good luck.

For writing: just take practice tests, and post your questions here on this forum, we answer, you learn, then take more practice tests.

I started from a 47 writing, and now i’m at 700

RAlec114,

How long did that take you?

For writing, all you have to do is study the grammar rules and do practice. I went from high 500s to high 700s. It’s really just that.

And for critical reading, just read books, study some vocab here and there. Don’t go crazy with the 10000 SAT MUST KNOW VOCAB list. And do more reading passages. Went from low 500s to mid 700s.

Main point: PRACTICE!

1 month of semi-hardcore preparation. a total of 9 writing practice tests (as in, 9 tests but only the writing sections).

After each test, I posted questions on all the ones I got wrong, guessed on, or simply needed some clarification on. So 9 threads… and I recorded notes on a word document. I took like 4 sections a week, like 2 on 2 days of the week where I had relatively less hw, and then one on saturday and one on sunday. I could have easily done more.

I have around 1 month left until my May SAT. I still have 9 BB Tests. Should I do those by section or the entire test at a time?

^
Do some all at once and some section by section.
Try to the all at once tests (about 3 of them) each Saturday morning 9-12.
Sections can be done on school days and whenever you have time.

I never did the entire test at once. I could never last 4 hours, or find that time, except on saturdays, but I’d never do that. I’d do them by subject. Do one math portion (all 3 sections) a day. or do a CR portion in a day. or a writing. etc. But if you have the stamina, or NEED the stamina training, by all means go for it.

I’m going to take a second SAT in October. Should I save some to do right before October? Or just do as much of the BB tests I can before my May one?

Thanks!

practice is the best way to improve scores (the questions from test to test are all very similar because it tests the same skills) and the best way to practice is with the blue book (EIGHT practice tests)

I heard there are quite a few guides here to help you improve your SAT, but I am having trouble finding them, can someone give me the URLs

can anyone help me?

It’s probably going to help if in addition to the guides you go through the posts in each thread.
