I would say, "May I take care of the check?" He will say no. Then say, "Thanks, just wanted to offer because I really appreciate your time." Then wait for him to put money down and put down your half.

ok i dont know if this helps, but i had my interview in a diner for dinner. my interviewer was much older than me (like parents generation) and female so there was no awkwardness in terms of being young, however when the check came she took it before i even had a chance to do anything, just that quick. In general i would say order something cheep (so that if he does pay it isnt a big deal), and if he doesnt grab the check then you can prceed as these other people have advised, but dont worry about being awkward, if he has done interviews at resurants before im sure he is aware of the awkwardness of the check.

WELL i just had the interview, I payed for the bill haha, we just got sandwiches, I wanted to pay for it, it felt better than letting him pay, and he didnt really say no.The interview didnt really go that great, I was the first person he ever interviewed, so he wasnt really prepared, he didn't know what to do, it kinda sucks that I got this guy...

that is rather unfortunate, but on the bright side it probably doesnt count that much. we do all this stressing and seriously...do they even look at the interview reports? (you know beyond seeing that we completed one)

for my other schools, I hope they do, cause the interviews went great, but princetons went bad, he wasnt that interested in finding out about me, he just kept on asking me if I wanted to know anything? and really, I didnt, cause I knew everything about princeton, from internet, forums, books, catalogues, so I really didnt have that many questions which left me saying Uhhh..uhh..uhhh and just smiling when I didnt know what to say. Its the first time he interviews someone, oh well. I'm hoping they don't count for much cause if they do theres no way Im getting into princeton now haha

My Harvard interviewer said "I'll pay, it'll be my donation to Harvard since I never donate." lol
