I saw some people said that weistein is like a prison?
Is it true?

Alright, I visited Weinstein last week during NYU’s Admitted Students Weekend. Let’s look at both the good and bad points of Weinstein.

The BAD:

Basically, the room is not that good. It sort of does resemble a prison. It’s also a bit smaller than some of the other dorm rooms. The theory about the cinder-blocks really is true because there are cinder-blocks. I’m guessing you are a girl, so if closet space is a big issue to you and you need a lot of it, this might be a bit challenging.

The GOOD:
It’s the only dorm on campus where you are guaranteed to not have a suite (4 people to a bathroom), but rather just one roommate who you share a bathroom with. So I guess you’ll have to clean for less people The bathroom is also pretty clean compared to what I saw in other dorms.

It also provides a lot of amenities. First of all, there’s two of the best dining options on campus there (Upstein and Downstein), a Quiznos, and the only Chick-Fil-A in the state of New York. Not to mention, it’s the 2nd closest dorm to campus for classes so you won’t have to wake up much earlier (it’s only 2nd behind Goddard). Also, every resident in Weinstein I’ve spoken to has said that dorm floors do a lot of things to build community and be social.

CONCLUSION:
Weinstein’s dorms are below average. I’m not going to deny that. There is a chance you can get a view though depending on which side you get placed on. If you like waking up later or just being close to campus and not having to walk, I think Weinstein would be a good option, or Hayden, or maybe Goddard if you like that community feel.

Thanks A LOT!
That really helped since i am an international student—no chance to visit the campus now.

Yeah that was my first time visiting all the dorms and things on campus. Good luck on your dorm selection and hope to see you next year!
