Hi there! Sorry for the drama. I was in a musical theatre program for the fall semester, but withdrew for personal issues with the program and I am currently looking for places that I can still apply and audition at. I know it’s somewhat late in the game, but I did manage to apply and already have auditioned at OCU, Wichita State, and I have an upcoming audition for MSM. If anyone knows or has suggestions of schools that still have audition dates or that are accepting videos please let me know! I’ve been doing my own research, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to post here.
@broadwayboy223 , some smaller programs are Lipscomb University in Nashville, Western Carolina University in NC, possibly Catawba in NC. Maybe Millikin? Not sure of any of the “big name” schools, sorry.
This thread will help you:
and this one:
Western Carolina for sure has audition dates in March and April, Catawba’s deadline was 2/10, but might be worth a phone call tomorrow - its audition date is February 25 and requires prescreen.
I know my D has a late audition at Sam Houston University at the end of March. I don’t know if they are full yet or not, but they seem to be an up and coming program.
University of the Arts still has audition dates in March and April.
@broadwayboy223 I second @CMB625 & @KarenK99. IDK where you are regionally, but Catawba and WCU would be two good programs: You could visit both in one fell swoop.
^Coastal has a March audition and often auditions students later/accepts transfers. Also in that general area.
Feel free to PM me if you’d like to learn more about Coastal Carolina or want some guidance in the transfer process
@broadwayboy223 – If you are a transfer student it is not too late to apply to James Madison University. The transfer academic deadline is March 1, and there is a transfer student only audition day March 18. Video submissions are also excepted. If you have questions PM me.
Nebraska Wesleyan is still
a possibility. … I don’t think my kiddo even auditioned there til late Feb or March two years ago. Great program with an unbelievable amount of stage opportunities. My D was cast first week freshman year and onstage in a month.
@AlexaMT I sent you a PM!
And thanks all for the suggestions!!! It really has helped. Keep them coming if possible LOL
I saw my friend audition for Elon over the weekend, but I don’t know if they’re still auditioning. Wouldn’t hurt to check.
I think there is a difference between schools where there are still auditions happening, and schools where you can still apply/audition. Lots of schools will be holding their final audition days over the next couple weeks - doesn’t mean you can get a slot. (often closes with the academic deadline, or when they are full)
@toowonderful Exactly! I have to find schools that I can still apply too academically, as well as audition for.
@broadwayboy223 I think the threads referenced by @EmsDad are your best starting point.
Plymouth State University is still accepting application and auditioning.
Thank you to all who have helped! You guys did really help. If you come up with anything else let me know or PM me
@KelviVan - Late response here, but just to let you know, my D was at Sam’s last audition weekend last year & she had her acceptance within a week. She didn’t end up there, but just wanted to let you know that they do have spots left at that point. Great program. *sidenote - I see your D has been accepted to UAB as well…that was where our D committed before she came off the wait list at NYU & she has a great friend from HS who did end up there. LOVE LOVE LOVE Valerie Accetta. That program is going to be something special under her leadership…I feel many pangs of jealousy when I see D’s friend post about her experiences there (mainly b/c D isn’t doing MT at NYU and I miss it…but also b/c I think that campus & Birmingham would be fantastic for an undergrad experience).
@WTXMom - Thanks! I am excited for us to visit Birmingham - I have heard so many great things about Valerie. We still have 3 weeks before her SHSU audition. It will have been so long - I’m not sure she’ll remember her material!
