Someone told me there was a thread about this on here already, but I can't seem to find it. Forgive me if this duplicates things, but I need help quickly (in order to make any April 1 deadlines).

My daughter applied to a total of 9 schools, but things are not going well. She was waitlisted at 2 (including Muhlenberg), rejected from 3 (skidmore, brandeis, kenyon) and accepted at 4. However none of the four are appealing for different reasons, which were discovered after the fact.

SO...can you theater experts give us any suggestions for schools in PA, NY or the New England area that are strong in straight theater (acting) and who may still be accepting applicants? She wants a school where she can also study other things, so it needs to be a non-conservatory type of school. In other words, a "regular" college

Plymouth State University in NH is still accepting applications, although you would need to do it ASAP – I think by April 1 (tomorrow) – AND contact the department directly tomorrow to confirm you can still get your name on the audition list for the last date, which is Monday, April 5. April 1st is the last day that the dept. will guarantee an audition spot.
Thanks KatMT! We will check it out, but may have a problem with auditioning since we live so far away. If you know of any others, please let me know :)

SUNY New Paltz (NY)

West Chester University of PA ¶

I can’t promise you on these but I think these, along with Hofstra, may still be taking apps and do offer theater.

Montclair State University (NJ) has BFA Acting April 10th, BA Theatre Studies April 27th, and BFA Musical Theatre on April 27th as well.

Marymount Manhattan College (NY) has auditions for BFA Acting, BA Theatre Performance, and the Musical Theatre Minor on April 17th. This is mainly a transfer audition, but it was also opened to freshman applicants. It says on the website that auditions are at capacity unless you are a transfer, but I would call to see if they can do anything for you since many students have other options before this audition date and tend to cancel.

Another option is to apply for spring admissions. A few schools offer that. One that does is Goucher College and so she’d just start one semester later than planned.

Another one that has spring semester admissions is American University (this BA is by audition).
