<p>So I'm in a bit of a sticky situation. I'm a sophomore in college as a Musical Theater Major. I have had a lot of success at my school, but crazy things are going down, and I need to transfer. I didn't really figure out that I absolutely needed to transfer until about three weeks ago. I had already packed this semester full with two voice competitions, an acting competition I was nominated to go to, my brothers wedding, and auditions at SETC, so I only had room to fit in two live auditions. </p>
<p>Scary part is, I had my first live audition last weekend, and absolutely bombed it. NOTE! If there is a snow storm, leave crazy early for your audition. I left 4 hours before I had to be at my audition 3 hours away, but the snow storm was hateful... so I got there late... it freaked me out, I completely forgot one of the dance combos that I KNEW... then later, legitimately fell on my face walking out of the audition room. ( watch where you're walking, guys XD... there was a small step, and I didn't see it... FACEPLANT!) needless to say, I did not got accepted there ha ha!... Scary thing is, I only have one more live audition... I was waitlisted there in high school after having a rough audition, so I'm hoping that they will like me when I come back. It was my dream school in high school. If I get accepted there, I'll accept the offer in a heartbeat. </p>
<p>In case that audition doesn't work out, though, I'm looking into finding schools that will accept video auditions... or schools that have auditions Febuary 5th or 11th..or March 3rd. </p>
<p>If you know of any schools that have any of these options, I would love any imput, and will research the schools I am told about. :-)</p>
<p>Yikes…sorry for all the stuff going on in school and life. And rough to have to build your list based on your availability for auditions. Keep in mind that, although some schools do have auditions on the date you mention, they may also have had application dates that closed long ago.</p>
<p>One school that is auditioning on 2/11 is Ball State [Ball</a> State University - Home](<a href=“http://www.bsu.edu%5DBall”>http://www.bsu.edu) BUT their materials deadine is 1/30 – THIS MONDAY! That’s a lot to try to get done this weekend, including researching the school. Another thought is that the National Unified Auditions [National</a> Unified Auditions](<a href=“http://www.unifiedauditions.com%5DNational”>http://www.unifiedauditions.com) are held in NYC on Feb 4 and 5…but again, they may have already closed the slots for availability. 20+ schools are on the list as participating; you can go to the website and get contact information for each of them. </p>
<p>Point Park in Pittsburgh <a href=“http://www.pointpark.edu%5B/url%5D”>http://www.pointpark.edu</a> has an audition on 2/25. They have rolling admission dates, so you might be able to still apply to them…</p>
<p>So…are there schools auditioning on these dates? Sure. Are these right for you? No idea. Are there others? Probably. Can you audition for them? Depends on the schools’ application policy/dates (I am pretty sure, for example, that CCM is out, as their application date for MT closed 11/1.) </p>
<p>Would you consider one of the excellent non-audition BA programs out there? That could take a lot of the stress out of the next few months, give you more time to find a school that fits you, and possibly come in with more credits that would be accepted. (Many of the BFA programs may make you start over as a freshman again, if accepted…can you afford that much time and $$$?)</p>
<p>@coexist2014, you really need to read the “thinking you bombed but getting in anyway” thread. You are now the applicant that when the adjudicators sit around discussing various applicants instead of saying: “was that blonde #2 or brunette #15” they will say, “was that the kid that fell on her face and was late because of the snow?” to which they could possibly all shake their heads in agreement without having to look at their notes and say, “she was awesome”.</p>
<p>I considered auditioning at Ball State, because it is close to home for me… though the cost of travel from my current school is too much to go that far, so I don’t think that is an option right now. I think I am going to call and see if they’ll let me do a video audition though… I know they aren’t nearly as good live auditions, but people still do get accepted through them. </p>
<p>I would actually be willing to look at the non-audition BA’s— I don’t know of any though. Do you?</p>
<p>Take a look at the stickie at the top of this forum – the “Big List of MT Colleges” – it lists programs by location and also by whether they are audition or nonaudition. Since MT admissions is a moving target, be aware that some schools (such as Coastal Carolina) who used to be nonaudition have moved to an audition format. But this list can give you an idea of how to find nonaudition schools with your program…and then you can contact them to see about their transfer policy, etc. </p>
<p>No degree in (or not in) MT is a guarantee of success, but finding the place where you can work and learn is what is important. Happy searching!</p>
<p>Did you PM kjgc and KatMT after your November post? If not, PM them today… they offered to help you; both are in your region but even if you don’t audition for them, use them as resources - they understand why you are leaving and genuinely want to help.</p>

<p>Do-what-u-love and Katmt-thank you so much! I wish I could do a live audition for JMU, but that’s the date of my brother’s wedding, and i am a bridesmaid, so it’s out of the question for me. If I could do a DVD audition, that would be wonderful though! I was planning on staying at my school , then found out my voice teacher is leaving about 3 weeks ago. I hate what’s going on, but didn’t want to transfer if I didn’t have to. It’s looking like there are only going to be a few people staying next year.</p>
<p>DaddyW’s list is very helpful…but keep in mind that a video audition is different than a prescreen video. Prescreens are the tools that a school uses in deciding who to invite to campus for a live audition on a specified date. Most of these prescreen dates have passed already for this year. </p>
<p>However, if there is a school (on that list or otherwise) that really interests you, certainly go to their website, call them, see if they allow a video for transfer students. </p>
<p>Good luck getting your videos together, if you choose to go that route, and your applications. Pay close attention to requirements and deadlines and, as grandma always tells my d, “sing purty”.</p>
<p>You are welcome! That’s very true. Where there is a prescreen (different from the real audition) I have made a note “prescreen”. We were pleased to discover that most of the schools we have contacted who have only on campus auditions, will gladly take a digital audition. They have been very accommodating and it has saved us a bundle in travel. We have been reassured it will be seriously considered. I trust they are earnest.</p>
