Help me Aggies!!!!

Hi,I am an international student who has been admitted to TAMU, with opportunity scholarship which makes me eligible for paying in state tuition fee, thus TAMU is my first choice.

I want to pursue mechanical engineering, but was not accepted for mechanical engineering as I applied very late.

I have been accepted with Physics as my major ,but mech engineering is all that interests me, after talking at TAMU they told me that I can change my major once I accept my seat at university and attend the New Students Conference, but there is a cap associated with each major and hence they can't assure whether I will get into mechanical engineering or not.

I have nice stats
1400-CR+Maths
790-Mah Level IIC
740-Physics

AP
Calculus BC-4
Calculus AB-4
Mechanics-5
Electricity and Magnetism-5
Statisitics-5
Chemistry-5

Top 10% throughout freshman, sophomore, junior year but my senior year totally sucked
what should I do, can anyone tell me if change in major is easy at Texas A&M.

I’m guessing Mechanical will be full. It tends to fill up quickly. If you get good grades you can transfer very easily. Make sure you get above a 3.0 and you should be good to go. Take the right classes and talk to your academic advisior early and often about switching. Get on campus, knock out your freshmen year basics and you’ll find swtiching easy.

I would contact the mechanical department directly and ask them.

If you get good grades, and you should with your stats, you will be able to change major after your first year. Even Mechanical Engineering majors (freshmen) have to be accepted. Your choice of Physics as a major was a good one as all the classes should be open to you. Make sure you register for Engineering 111.
