I got into both UC Irvine and UC Davis with computer science major, but I am having difficulty deciding my college of choice. For UCI, I got into CHP. But for UC Davis, I got a one-year 14k scholarship. Also, I am planning to minor in Mathematics. Which college would provide me with greatest benefits including job opportunity and many other criteria? Your opinion will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Both are situated well in regards to job prospects.
I don’t know if being in the campus honors program at UCI will make a difference. Have you looked at the course req’ts? Will they be a burden with a CS major or will they just fit in as GenEd?
Do you get registration priority with CHP?
I think there is some sort of career assistance within CHP, but I don’t know if it’s more useful than the overall career center.
What is the one year 14k award from UCD and why is it only one year? Are you sure it’s not renewable?
How much of a financial difference does it make to your family if you take the $14k?
Which school do you live closer to? If you live in southern Cal, then you’ll save on transportation costs going to UCI, and then the one time $14k won’t make a big difference.
What is the net cost for each college?
What state do you live in?
UCI CHP is TERRIFIC, really well designed. It’d be my pick.
