thank you in advance! :D

I’ve been reading the forums but still not quite sure about which college… so help if you can, thanks =]

about me…
I’ll just spit different things?

I’m Asian- Vietnamese.
MALE.
I’m down for experimentation, not hardcore party all the time.
I love music, I just can’t make it. Hahaha, I’m musically-declined.
Not really smart but I’m really pratical.
Majoring in Psychology.
I want to meet a lot of people to get the whole college experience. =]
I love helping or being apart of things (Clubs, Student Government, Community Service, etc)
I enjoy food.

Uhmm yeah I ran outta things to say. HAHAH ;]

@ pinkvgirl
I think other colleges have outdoor houses as well. Well, at least Crown does, I should know, I live in it!
Also, If you specify that you want a single sex floor, the university is required to give you one.

@ericshin
based on the info you gave it seems like you’d be fine anywhere… but maybe Cowell, 9/10, or Stevenson would be good for you?

it’s just themed housing. We get extra money from the college to do outdoorsy stuff!

We go on a lot of night hikes and that sort of stuff. I believe they’re also trying to organize a trip to skyhigh. It’s a room full of trampolines? I’ve never been, but it should be fun!

I’m probably not going to UCSC since it doesn’t really have my major and I did get in UCB for pre-business, however I’m asking this question for my friend who’s being lazy and not wanting to make an account here >:(. Which college is considered the best fit for him :D.

-He’s Asian comes from a really competitive high school which is predominantely Asian(we think its like 80% Asian)
-He kind of wants to stay with where the Asians are but not being completely asian, I guess because it will be a better experience and also help him feel less awkward around someone who isn’t Asian
-He’s majoring in business management economics and wants to be more involved in clubs, social events, maybe join a business frat/sorority(I forget which one is for male -.-)

He really likes College 9 and 10 btw so I guess those will be his preferences, but he doesn’t know much about the other colleges and would like feedback :).

<.<(i’ll just tell him to read this thread on his time)

When do we apply to the colleges? I don’t know which would fit me…
I’m korean
No drugs or partying
Moderate~Quiet noise level in dorms preferred; not too noisy or I can’t study D:
Biology Major
Clean dorms~
Female
Clean, fresh looking college

Reading the summaries UCSC gives us about each college doesn’t really…help me choose. If you walk to each college, what do you notice? Noise-level wise, ethnicity wise, campus socializing life, what majors each colleges’ students, etc. Thank you^^

well i think the college itself is really nice with clean dorms haha and its kind of known for having the “nerdy” kids but all that really means is that they’re more study oriented and as far as I know there isnt any big drug or alcohol use there :] as for ethnicity I heard that Oakes is pretty diverse and college 10 too because it houses international students. And the stereotype is that college nine has a lot of asians but of course thats just a stereotype

Hmm I want to be around people I have similarities with. Which of the colleges have more asians/koreans but also some diversity? It’s rumored that 9/10 do, but with each graduating class…that kind of changes? > <

I’m wondering how they place you into colleges too (lottery? or first come first serve?).

Anyway.
I’m Asian (Vietnamese), & I come from a very culturally diverse area, but of course, I’d be more comfortable NOT being the token Asian.
I don’t really mind partying… I just don’t want the parties in my dorm.
But I do like to have fun once in awhile. :3
I’m somewhat nerdy/geeky, just not hardcoreeee haha.
But I want to be around hardworking people (to motivate me >.<).
I want to be close to a bookstore/library (if possible) for studying.
I don’t like overly preppy stereotypical high school people. =/

I’m pretty sure I’m set on Crown as my first choice, but I’m not sure what to choose as my backups. I’m thinking 9/10, Oakes, & Merrill. Any suggestions? =)

Milkteaa, I think you’ll have a really great time at Crown. You can’t study at the bookstore, but the library is probably a 10 min walk from Crown. Otherwise your list is pretty much right on the money with your description.

They pick your college by looking at the amount of space in each college and the order you put your colleges. I know this sounds very basic, but it’s that simple. Most people get their 1st choice just because there is that much space/not everyone picks one college.

@Star, most UCs are experiencing a pretty big growth with Asian students, so it’s going to be different each year. 9/10 has quite a few asians, but that is now becoming more true with places like Cowell, Crown, and College 8. I wouldn’t pick a college purely based on ethnicity (MAYBE if you are considering Oakes).

I haven’t really looked much into the colleges up until now so I’m wondering which one would be the best for me?

I’m looking into Busienss Management Economics

I’m Vietnamese, wouldn’t mind being around the asian crowd.

I don’t mind the partying, but I would like some quiet every once in awhile haha

I wanna be around people who would study, just so I wouldn’t procrastinate as much and have a study buddy

I’d like to avoid the whole high school stereotype/drama

I’d prefer to not be surrounded by like a bunch of nerd/geeks =X

People who would like to have fun once in awhile or so often .

Oh and people who are like majoring in the same thing as me, so we have something in common.

So skimming thruogh the colleges, I’m not sure which one really fits me well.

Everyone has been posting for help so I finally caved in and did the same. Thanks for the imput.

-Male
-White
-Laid back and like to laugh
-Like to party but also be serious and study when necessary
-Not a stoner but may on ocassion smoke pot (hardly at all I’m not too into it)
-Gay
-Good student
-Undeclared but considering lingustics
-From the central valley
-I don’t fit a stereotype (not a nerd,geek, skater, stoner, hippie, ect.)
-I want to be more active and work out

And that’s about it. One more thing I’m not really considering Oakes haha. Thanks.
