HELP ME!!! Common App Site is SOOO dumb!!!!!!! please share your expertise w/ me!

So here is the problem.

I applied for School A early action, and one of my teachers wrote a teacher rec SPECIFICALLY for that college (it mentions the name of the school). Now I am submitting my application for School B, and I have to choose two recommenders in order to submit the application. BUTTTTTTTT, if I choose this teacher, then the letter that was supposed to be ONLY for School A will also be sent to School B. The teacher gave me a separate recommendation for School B to MAIL IN.

What should I do???

Please respond!

The Common App allows you to create alternate versions (copies) and then you can attach different MS-Word document attachments to those alternate versions. Check the Help section in the Common App’s web forms and you can find out how to do this. It’s a little tricky the way the login screens work when u need to do this, but its possible.

So, you can complete the common App and attach a document addressed specifically to one college, only submit that completed common App to that one college, and then create what the common App calls an “alternate version” of that submitted app, which you can then edit and send to a 2nd, different school and attach a different document.

I think U can do that up to 10 times. That way, documents addressed specifically to one college or another can be attached to a “version” of your common app. Obviously, you’d be submitting one “version” of the common app to one school at a time.

Once u submit a common app to a school, it’s "locked’, for obvious reasons of integrity.

At least I think this is what u r asking about.

I would email common app and ask them, although there isn’t much time left. I’m honestly not sure if it’s possible to do anything :S. Maybe submit it with the online rec anyways that was made for school A, then contact school B and tell them to disregard it and that a new rec letter is coming? I’m not sure.

Teachers and counselors can submit one and only one rec on your behalf. If they use the name of a specific college because, say, you applied EA or ED to that school, then ALL of your colleges will receive that letter. The only way to correct this is by mail.
