Help me compile a list of colleges!

So, my plan is to major in accounting or another business related major with the ultimate plan of going to law school. I would either like to go to school in California or an east coast school. My weighted gpa is 3.6 and my SAT 1 was (cr-650, m-580,w-550). I will take it again in hopes of getting above 2000. My SAT 2s in history and lit. were 630 and 600, which I also plan on taking again.
Some Schools I was considering
USC
NYU
Penn State
UCI
UCSD
UCD
UCR

If you’re planning on Law School the UC schools are probably your best bet. Law School isn’t cheap … neither is setting up your practice.

thanks for the help, bumppp

Please visit the following site.

[UC Admissions Statistics](http://www.ophs.opusd.k12.ca.us/uc_admissions_statistics.htm)

Your stats are compatible with UCRiverside & Penn State. The other schools are all reaches. I think USC, NYU & UCSD are extreme reaches. UCD & UCI are possible but still have higher admit stats than your current numbers. Expand your list to include some more safeties.

bumppp, i appreciate the comments

Some others to possibly check into are Fordham, Bentley and UMass (Amherst).

Thanks for the insight, i’ll look into those colleges. BTW, i was wondering, even with my poor gpa, would an SAT score of 2000 open the door to those reach schools?

You need probably more safeties.

i would say that the SAT doesn’t really open the doors to those schools. I am going through somethign similar, my gpa is poor and my SAT is high and i feel i belong at the better schools, so i am applying to some. I woul;d suggest that you do the same if you truly feel that you belong there, but, like other have suggested, add in a few more safeties just as a sure thing.

alright guys, thanks for the insight. Could you guys recommend some safeties though?

In California, look at Loyola Marymount, though that’s more of a match/safety.

Alright thanks, but i’m not really interested in religious affiliated schools. Anyone else?

bump thanks guys

bump, anyone?
