So, I’m in between Rutgers University (New Brunswick) and Arizona State University (Tempe). If I am to go to ASU, I’d be in Barrett, the honor’s college.
I’m from New Jersey so if I were to go to Rutgers, I would have in-state tuition. I also have a grant of 4.5k a year. This would be the more affordable school. As for ASU, I received a scholarship of 15.5k a year.
I will be majoring in marketing. However, I would like to double major. (My second major would either be business entrepreneurship or something having to do with fashion or tourism) At ASU, they have more options for majors that interest me.
I want to go to ASU more, I’ve been getting more involved with the community and I’d like to get away from the cold weather. I don’t know if going to ASU would be the best option though since Rutgers is cheaper and may be considered a better school.

Where would the difference in cost come from?
Rutgers has a terrific reputation. Ask the career center there about internship and job placement in warmer parts of the country.
What is the net cost of both schools? Can your family comfortably afford both schools (including transportation for ASU) with no loans/no hardship?
Rutgers has a really good honors program. Will you be in that?
I see Rutgers for you would be about $30,000/year. Sound right? And Barrett with the scholarship would be about $34-$36K? (this includes the $1800 for WP Carey and $2000 for Barrett)
If this difference is only $4-$6K/year, then go to Barrett if that is your first choice, especially if it’s Rutgers non honors vs ASU honors. It’s widely regarded as the best honors college in the country and ASU is ranked #11 in marketing according to USNWR. $16-$24K in loans is manageable.
If the difference is $10K or more per year, or $40-$50K total for four years, then the decision is more difficult.
Barrett is very good. My daughter is likely passing up Michigan, Wisconsin and some other CA schools to attend Barrett and the business school in the fall.
