Hi,
I am a senior and I plan to study communications, journalism, or public health on a pre- med track. My main goal is to become a pediatrician. I am having a hard time deciding between Tulane, Butler, UGA, Georgia Tech, and Brandeis. I love everything about Tulane but is obviously very expensive. My family could make it work, but we are unsure if the cost is worth it. I like tech, but because I want to be a doctor I am worried about its reputation as a “weeder school”. For UGA, I don’t think I want to go to a school with a huge football culture and that far outside of a major city. I liked Butler when I toured but it’s hard for me to tell how it compares (in terms of rankings) to the other schools. I am struggling to decide especially without the ability to visit campuses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The money label may be true in most cases but the aid office differs by school to school too. Like a state uni thats less competitive in terms of rank likely has a less financial aid package for you. School with higher ranking may has a higher financial aid for you and cancels more and left less in its amount.
If you are interested in eventually going to med school, you could check out each of the colleges to see in which med schools they place students and/or check med schools’ admission histories to see from which colleges they accept the most students. Also, you should look into each college’s pre-med advising program that will help you stay on track with med school apps, selecting classes, etc. Congratulations and best of luck!
Ok med school is very pricy so I would wipe off the schools outside of GA, Tulane is a great school but save the money for med school. If being in a city is important to you Tech is the better bet.
