Hey, I'm now starting to apply to colleges again after receiving some early actions decisions (got deferred from desired college) and I don't know what direction to head in... so maybe you guys can help me out.

I'm hoping to major in business management so the school needs to have a good business program.... Here are some charactersitics that I'm looking for in a college (doesn't have to have all characteristics, but some would be good)...
-MUST HAVE Good Business Program/School
-Big School (10,000+)
-Good Greek Life (fun, outgoing, party school)
-Good Sports Team(football, basketball)
-Big Campus or College Town (city feeling)

Here are my stats
ACT: 25 composite (superscore = 28E 27M 22R 25S 10W)
GPA: 3.95/4.5 (w/ 2 AP courses taken & increasing trend)
Extracurriculars: Very good in my opinion
-Summer job, 3 interships w/ big name businesses,2 varsity sports, tutoring, Honor Roll, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta

Please suggest some schools in my range for regular decision!!! Thanks

“if it comes down to it and I NEED to pay full, it can happen.”

How much is that figure that you can come up with? 20k each year, 30k each year? 60k each year? Sit your parents down and have The Money Talk. Once you know what they are willing to pay, you will know more about where to look.

Many big public universities offer exactly the environment that you describe. Start by checking out the ones in your home state, and others whose OOS costs are within the budget that your parents set you.

There’s been plenty of talk about it and the numbers around 30k a year… but as I said, if it’s more, it can be done (student loans under my name, family, ect.)

It’s a hard situation to explain, but it would be great if you guys can start naming colleges with no worries about the financial aspect. I need some ideas!!

College Board’s CollegeMatchmaker search engine finds 49 four year institutions that are medium-sized (2,000 to 15,000 students), in a more urban setting, offer Business Administration or Management, have basketball and football teams, a greek life, and have OOS tuition and fees of $20,000 or less which would leave you $10,000 for housing, meals, and other expenses. You can narrow the list a bit more with your geographical preferences.
Miami University has a very good business program and meets most of your criteria. It is a beautiful campus. It does not have the “city feeling” you mentioned, Cincinnati and Dayton are within 30 minutes, but it is a college town. May be worth a look. Indiana was also a very good suggestion. Good luck to you.

Have you looked at Univ of Virginia? It’s a small city with a nice downtown and it’s basically a large college town. There’s Greek life here if you like that. It’s a big school; I love it.
The McIntire school of commerce here is ranked among the top in the nation, so if you want to study business, you could try for UVa. :)
