HI, I got mediocre grades with a 3.5 gpa and I need to find a college. I’m looking for 5 things in a college.
- Affordability. I come from a lower middle class family and college is kind of a long shot in paying for it. I’ll probably end paying for it on my own.
- Community. I want a school where the people are friendly and feels welcoming.
- Campus. I’m looking a really beautiful school and has a really awesome campus and is just gorgeous.
- Some what easy to get into. I don’t want to go to a school filled with potheads, but I also don’t want to go a school with people I can’t have a normal conversation with, without being ridiculed by words I don’t know. Somewhere in the middle.
- Options. Options academically, socially, and a college that will give me opportunities.
I know Its a lot to ask for but anything at this point would be helpful. Thank you so much!
How much can you afford? Home state? Test scores? Large/small? Rural/suburban/urban? Intended major?
Have you taken the ACT/SAT? If so, what’s your score?
Not much, New York, 1800 SAT, medium to small, Urban preferably, Either Soc and psych or english and theater
What is your SAT breakdown?
Have you looked at SUNY Genesco? Thoughts?
I think Geneseo is a reach. SUNY Plattsburg is meant to be nice, and not too far from Montreal. You are most likely going to have to sacrifice location on your wish list. Colleges these days have so much to do that you will probably spend most lf your time on campus. Frankly, if yiu are looking for affordable, yiu are probably going to be restricted to SUNY schools. Luckily, they are all pretty good. Good luck.
Use the Find a College tab on this website! You can put in preferences you have for colleges, like location, size, majors, etc. It’s very helpful!
Apply to the SUNYs and CUNYs. You need a lot of aid, so you need to apply to the NY publics. Your stats aren’t high enough to likely get into other schools that would give enough aid.
