I'm an international student from China applying this year.
so right now on my list there are:

Reach:
Yale University
Williams College
Columbia University

Match:
Georgetown University
Wellesley College
Pomona College
Claremont McKenna College

except for CMC, I am pretty sure about the rest.

right now I just need one safety University, so can any one recommend me some? I guess you can pretty much guess what kind of school I am looking for based on my list..hehe

Academic would be the most important factor. I'm interested in economics, political science, environment, etc. so basically social science. So I am looking for a college that has strong eco&political science departments.

the college preferablly should locate either in the northeast, such as in the new england, or West such as Califonia. I don't really wanna go to the South. I do like suburban/urban setting, so it'd be better if it is near big cities like LA, New York, Chicago and the D.C.

I like middle-sized or small universities.

My councelor suggested Boston University, Northwestern University and University of Virginia.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hum…if Georgetown University, Wellesley College or Pomona College are your matches, then you should consider Rochester, Trinity Collgee and Brandeis as your safeties.

You have Wellesley on the list, so I assume you’re female. Definitely check out Barnard, the (less selective) sister school to Columbia in NYC.

And Pomona, slightly MORE selective than Williams, is definitely a reach. You should reconsider Williams anyway because it’s in the middle of nowhere in a nonexistent town (which, by the way, has no Chinese food in walking distance, if that matters to you).
