Help me find a school in SoCal?

Hello, I am a junior in high school currently and really starting to get serious about looking for colleges.I live and Maryland and I currently go to a very good PRIVATE COLLEGE PREP CATHOLIC SCHOOL. We are well known throughout the state and have good academics. My cumulative GPA for freshman and sophomore year is 2.74 ( I really didn't try to my best ability). In Junior year thus far, I have about a 3.3 GPA for this year only (Not cumulative). I played 2 sports sophomore year and have I am in 2 clubs. I have yet to take the SAT but hope to get anywhere from 1600-1800. I also have had numerous jobs to keep me busy. COMMUNITY COLLEGE IS NOT AN OPTION.

I really didn't apply myself at all throughout high-school. That is obviously my biggest mistake thus far.

Some extra credentials that might help me are:
-Jobs (Lifeguard at pool, Cashier/Server at Snowball Stand)
-Took multiple Business Classes in HS (Good Grades in Them)
- Volunteer at Soup Kitchen (40 hours so far)
-Junior Prom Committee + Asian American Club (Junior Year)
- Outdoor Track+ Cross Country (Sophomore Year)

I feel as though the biggest thing that will impress colleges with myself is that I started an online Amazon/Ebay business. Currently, I have over $25,000 in sales and that is continuing to grow.

I am looking for a college in Southern California (LA Area). Since I will be living on campus at least freshman year I would prefer for it not to be a commuter campus.

Here is my list of PREFERENCES:
-Southern California (LA AREA)
-Somewhat close to the beach
-Good Business and/ or Engineering Program
-Non-Commuter Campus
-Good Campus life (including parties/greeklife)
-Any size is fine

Basically, Im looking for an OKAY (Doesn't have to be prestigious) Southern California College that I have a good chance to get into. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

LMU is definitely my top choice, it is perfect for all of my needs. Price is not an issue.

Honesty, I know my stats aren't the best so really any college in SoCal is fine. It doesnt have to meet my criteria, that would just be a plus.

I am looking for some Match Schools and Some Safety Schools. Thank you soo much!

I think you may have defined an empty set…

It’s easy to list schools that aren’t right for you but, without test scores, it is really tough to give you any concrete suggestions.
Calculate your CSU/UC GPA using this:
<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

CSU LA, SB, CI and San Marcos are probable with an SAT as your forecast. Since budget isn’t a concern, try USD too, particularly if you have a compelling story. Post back when you have more data.

There are 4 groups of very good Public Univs in the West.

1 Group (SAT 2050~2070, ACT 30~31)

UCB
UCLA

2 Group (SAT 1970~1990, ACT 29~30)

UCSD
Cal Poly SLO

3 Group (SAT 1900~1920, ACT 28)

UCSB
UCD

4 Group (SAT 1830~1850, ACT 27)

UCI
Univ of Washington.

I’d say your best shots are at CSU’s, but the thing is they don’t care about EC’s so admission is solely based on GPA and test scores. Most CSU’s are commuter campuses btw.

The more residential southern California schools with engineering are Caltech, Harvey Mudd, UCLA, USC, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UCR, CPSLO, LMU, USD, and California Baptist, but they are all likely to be reaches for someone with a 2.9-3.0 HS GPA (California Baptist is probably the most realistic one for admission).

Other southern California schools with engineering are CPP, CSUF, CSUFULL, CSULB, CSULA, CSUN, and SDSU.

What’s wrong with going to school in Maryland? Or starting at community college and doing well there so that you have more choices of schools to transfer to than you have for frosh admissions?
