Sophomore at top 20 LAC in East...
socially unhappy here and looking to transfer back to Ohio.

Would like a friendly LAC, with good English and performing arts programs...

Also, not so sure about the preppy factor, because I have goth tendencies, am really into goth metal, etc. However, a couple of my good friends were pretty preppy. Not preppy in the original, East coast boarding school sense, but in the now popular AE, Hollister way. I like extremely laid-back, friendly people with a sense of humor and adventure.

Thanks.

Oberlin might be one.

Kenyon College might be a good choice...

Employment U...get out there and be somebody kid!

do you have to go back to Ohio? I'd consider Wesleyan, where you'll find the atmosphere is very accepting and anything but conventional. They have a great English and performing arts programs as well.

......I go to Vassar.....

Hmm...then you should be fine at transferring into top 10 LACs if you're interested. I really suggest Wes if you haven't already checked it out. It seems to fit a lot of what you want and, if you've got a decent GPA, you're a shoe-in.

Wouldn't you say that Wesleyan is pretty similar to Vassar? Oberlin too? I think I need something more different, particularly in terms of student body. I love Vassar, but I can't stand the ppl. I think it might be a getting used to the East coast thing. That's why I'm thinking Ohio. Also, being so far from home is getting really old. I miss it like crazy (and I'm a sophomore!)

At this point I'm really not concerned with prestige anymore. Anyone know anything about Ohio Wesleyan in terms of student body?

BTW, thanks so much for the help everyone.

well, not for nothing, and I'm not really sure what happened at Vassar -- but, Wesleyan has (or , had last I looked) an entire fraternity populated by Goths (Alpha Delt.) And they have awesome parties. But, it's kitty corner from one of the nation's best known preppy frats (Psi U), so I don't know what to tell you. :/
