Help me find more colleges I may like.

Hi, I've already have a pretty nice list of colleges, but some I'd be willing to take some off for others. I'd like to apply to 10-15 schools, with a couple of reaches and a good # of safeties.

I'm interested in majoring in Political Science and maybe Business/Finance, but I'm not sure I'd be able to pull off a double major and graduate in 4 years.

My criteria for picking a college
Academics: Pretty challenging, but not a terrible workload. I want to work hard in college, but I want to enjoy life too. Good reputation in biz and PoliSci would be nice. Not sure how intellectual I want the school to be.

Location: Pretty important, but basically anywhere in the South, Cali, Arizona. I live in Ohio and I don't like the cold too much lol. New England would probably be all right though.
Also, being within an hours drive of a big city >250,000 people is not a must, but definitely a huge plus. Ideally being in the suburbs, about a 20 minute drive to the city. Being by the water would be nice too.

Cost: Schools with really good FA or merit money I might be able to get.
My stats will probably look something like this: 3.7-3.8 UW GPA(4.2-4.3W), 30-32 ACT, at least 1350 SAT, Eagle Scout, volunteer good bit, few other ECs.
I have no clue what my EFC is, but I'd say it is between 12k-30k, big variable, I know, but my goal is to reduce my COA each year to <20k.

Student body: Don't really care about diversity, but I guess I'd like it to be diverse(I'm a white male), but this factor I don't really care about. And this doesn't matter too much but more girls to guys ratio would be nice, lol. Ohh and no cutthroat, I'd rather have it be more "chill"

Size: Preferably 15,000 to 20,000 undergrads. I wouldn't going to a bigger school, but it would be nice to be in the Honors college if I go to a huge school. But smaller school would be ok, it would depend.

Right now the schools I plan on applying to as a white Ohio male:

Notre Dame-dream school, reach
NYU-Stern: reach
Miami: match
Alabama: safety $
USC: high match
Dayton: legacy safety $
Coast Guard Academy: low reach/high match not really sure with CGA
Michigan: match
Georgia: low match
Georgetown SFS: reach

I'm also looking at: Loyola Marymount, ASU, UF, FSU, Vanderbilt, Emory, Florida Atlantic, LSU, South Carolina, San Diego, College of Charleston, Northwestern.
I'll probably try to pick 5 schools or so off of this list, but I'll see what you guys say. And I know some of my schools don't really fit my criteria for what I want in a school, but I still like them.

Thanks

South Carolina is nice and is good with merit aid.

LSU would be an uber safety lol..probably really good merit aid as well.

College of Charleston sounds like it would be a good fit (and you'd definitely enjoy the male to female ratio). What about Rhodes College in Memphis?

LSU would be an uber safety lol..probably really good merit aid as well.

Yeah, the Golden Oaks + a possibility for more is pretty nice.

And yeah Scottie, CofC looks really cool, just started to look into that one. Charleston seems like a really fun city.

Thanks everyone

College Of Charleston, UNC-Asheville, Clemson, Virginia Tech all sound like good schools that'd fit you

Something else you might want to look into is Emory's Oxford college. Oxford is housed on Emory's original college in Oxford, Georgia, about twenty miles from Atlanta. You would attend Oxford for your first two years, and then move over to the Atlanta campus. Oxford is definitely more Liberal Artsy than Emory proper.

Given your stated interests, this is a funny list of colleges. For example, it’s not often that you see NYU and Notre Dame in the same college list. Either can be right, but IMO, rarely would both be right.

Can you give a little more detail on what you’re looking for at the school in terms of academics, social life, athletic life?

I also think that Scottie's suggestion of Oxford might be worth looking into....

Did anyone mention Tulane or University of Richmond yet?

Yeah, I know, lol. I like both schools, but both have major cons. I generally would not like an urban campus, but I used to live in NYC and I really miss it. Plus Stern is one of the best undergrad B-schools, Wall St. is right in the back yard.

I've loved Notre Dame since I was like 6, but I hate the weather, and the surrounding area is pretty terrible.

Neither really fit my ideal location, but I'm still drawn to both of them.

And honestly, I'm not sure what I want in a college yet, but I don't think I want too small, like <3000 undergrads(though CGA is like 900).

I'd like pretty big athletics, but it's not that big of a concern if a school has small sports. As for academics, not too hard, but not a joke school. And I want a pretty active student body, not a commuter campus, but a place where I can easily go and explore a big city.

bump, anyone else?

Does anyone know if Tulane is a good place to go to school for undergrad business. Heard NOLA is a real awesome place to be for college.

Tulane has an awesome business school.

UC-Berkeley

Berk is a little too cut throat for me, IMO. And OOS costs are tough, not even sure if I'd get in.

Fordham/Rose Hill sounds pretty much up your alley. Good business program, nice campus, not too far a commute to Manhattan. . . your scores might get you some pretty decent merit aid as well.

George Washington sounds perfect for you.
