Look at Albion College in Albion, Michigan – very good biology programs, and international students are eligible for the school’s scholarships.
Also, look at Alma College in Alma, Michigan; international students are also eligible for scholarships.
If you can get your SAT scores up a bit, as other posters have suggested, that will help.
You may want to look at some schools in England or Canada- tuition tends to be much cheaper there.
Thanks everyone! I’ll consider everything you say @SOSConcern I’ll get in touch with UA ASAP about the transcripts. This was the first time I attempted the SAT, and I’m fairly certain that I can raise my score a bit more. But I’ll only be able to take the Jan SAT and I worry that might be too late for most schools.
Hey everyone! I spoke to my dad and he said we can stretch the budget a little bit to 20k. It isn’t much but will it make things easier?
I agree about taking the Jan SAT - smaller publics and private schools - it might make a difference. UA’s sister school UAH (Huntsville) takes later scores. UAB (Birmingham) - check the web site. UAH shows their automatic scholarship table on their web site.
In additional to Albion College and Alma College, you might also look at Birmingham-Southern College, an LAC with a good biology program and automatic merit aid for all applicants, including international students: http://www.bsc.edu/admission/scholarships.cfm. BSC is mentioned in Colleges That Change Lives: http://www.bsc.edu/admission/scholarships.cfm. It’s pretty reasonably priced, also.
