Oh and that sucks about Kinsolving. That's most likely what I'll choose as my first choice in the end just because of the location, population, etc. Good thing I applied within the first hour the housing app opened!

For off-campus housing, I would definitely recommend the Dobie. I've been there numerous times and have a couple of friends who live there. The place is great with large room and good food. I'll for sure be living there next year. I would highly recommend it. Granted, most rooms are a bit more pricey than on-campus housing, but it's a great facility and it's literally right across the street from campus.

Dobie being a "bit" pricey is an understatement. If you have the money to spend, and couldn't get into San Jac or Duren, then yeah fine. But most people don't want/can't to fork over the price difference for Dobie.

TBH unless your lucky, you will probably have to live in Jester if you put in your housing app that late.

libby- i applied, in jan. still, everyone's comments scare me. i hope i don't end up in Jester

Actually, many floor plans at the Dobie are cheaper than a room in San Jacinto or Duren.

Here's the information listed on the UT website for 2007-2008 housing prices:
Shared space in San Jacinto and Duren $8,834
http://www.utexas.edu/student/housing/index.php?site=1&scode=0&id=75

And here are a few of the floor plan rates at the Dobie:
Efficiency
7 Meals per Week $7,343
14 Meals per Week $7,543
Unlimited Meals $7,693

Studio
7 Meals per Week $7,986
14 Meals per Week $8,186
Unlimited Meals $8,336

Studio Plus
7 Meals per Week $8,202
14 Meals per Week $8,402
Unlimited Meals $8,552

Side Suite
7 Meals per Week $8,723
14 Meals per Week $8,973

San Jacinto and Duren are the two nicest dorms on campus, so they are the most sought after. So if you don't get into one of them and really don't want to live in Jester, consider the Dobie.

yeah i sent my deposit in about 30 minutes after the servers opened in sept. hopefully I did it in time.

there is a chat on aim called ut2011

for students in the class of 2011

Does anyone know if it's too late to get into Towers? Two of my friends have decided to room there together, and I can't seem to find a roommate for a four person suite. So, what I'm thinking of doing is applying for a roommate and a 2 person room.

^ No, I don't think it's too late to apply to Towers. My friend was almost positive she wouldn't get into UT last year so she didn't pay the housing fee cause she figured it'd be a waste of $50. Well...she did get in hahah and she got in like March 25th or 26th and she was able to live in Towers in a 4 person suite.

She was also able to room with her friend.
