Hi this is my first post. So I have decided to major in economics and applied to the following schools:

University of Michigan Ann Arbor-accepted

University of Chicago-wait listed

Carnegie Mellon- accepted

Notre Dame accepted

Emory-wating

Georgetown- waiting

Cornell- waiting

I thought you could help me out and tell me which one has the best economic program and is the best university overall. I am a highly motivated student and can adapat quite easily with any university altoguh I would prefer a city setting. Thanks

Congrats on all of your acceptances!

All of the schools you have listed are well-ranked, and you shouldn’t choose based on ranked (since these are all prestigious, well-known schools).

If you want a “city setting”, then Cornell probably isn’t for you. Emory isn’t exactly in a city either. Georgetown is in a city; Carnegie Mellon is in a city, but not “downtown”. I can’t comment on the others.

Have you stayed for an overnight at any of these? If you haven’t, it would be a good idea.

Think about what’s important to you in a college. Climate? Emory has warmer weather than U Chicago, Carnegie Mellon, or Cornell. Size? I don’t know the exact numbers, but I’m pretty sure U Michigan is the biggest one on your list. Extra-curricular activities? Greek life? Sports? Cost (do you have scholarships at any)?
