Hi all,
My dream job is to create systems that will help decrease physical pain. I want to become some sort of a biomedical engineer, but not a tissue engineer or anything like that. I am considering a BS double major (BME with EE or BME with ME) and getting a MS in BME (perhaps a PhD as well because I love the school setting and might consider teaching).
Would it be better to go BME/EE or BME/ME, and should I get an MS in BME or something else?
Thanks!
Either EE or ME would be fine. One area that involves reducing pain is neuromodulation via neuro-implants, which require both MEs and EEs. Make your decision based on which one–ME or EE–you find more interesting. As for the MS, it doesn’t matter whether you get it in ME, EE, or BME. What matters is your concentration and (if applicable) research focus. Goals for a graduate degree, or whether you even need/want one, will become clearer to you as you progress through college.
thanks @AuroObscura for your input!
