Help Me Pick a College! :]

<p>I have my stats listed in a chances thread, but here's a brief overview of the academic side just to show you what schools would be in the ballpark:</p>

<p>Class rank 2 out of 650ish
4.47 W GPA
2300 GPA</p>

<p>Now, I've been considering Vanderbilt and Duke, UGA as a safety, but I'm most definitely not dead-set on any of those and would really like some suggestions!
I don't know what I'd like to major in really. </p>

<p>Basically I have no clue! Lol, well somewhat of a clue, but I really need some help here. I'd like a school in the southeast [or pretty close to it], not in a rural setting, and probably more than 3000 undergrads. Thanks for any suggestions everybody! :]</p>

Architecture - Cornell, CMU (Top Music and Design as well)
Southern - Rice
Overall Artsy/Good - Brown</p>

<p>I know you want a school in the southeast but with your scores you can shoot for top schools and there aren't that many in that region as you already covered Vandy/Duke.</p>

<p>If you are really into Latin, Holy Cross has the largest classics program of American liberal arts colleges and offers several full merit scholarships each year.</p>

<p>Holy Cross - where is that? And is it Catholic? If so [and if it's a dominating force in the school], it probably wouldn't be a great fit for me.
Thanks to both of you - those are good suggestions! I was just hoping for something a little closer to home, but lfecollegeguy, you're right, I guess I pretty already have those covered :&lt;/p>

<p>Holy Cross is 40 minutes west of Boston. It is run by the Jesuits which also run Georgetown in DC, Boston College, and Fordham University in NYC.</p>

<p>UNC Chapel Hill would have everything you want, and is a real match, or even a safety, although there are few safeties anymore, esp. for out of staters. Duke is a reach for anyone, but I think you have a shot, esp. with your talent in music. (perhaps send a tape of a performance?) They want students who distinguish themselves from the overprepared pack. Also Emory, which is so much better every year, and is in Atlanta, not the boonies.William and Mary would probably be a good match, but it may be a bit small for you. Since you seem rather creative, would you consider some schools further north that are known for their excellent academics and appreciation for the fine arts? Like Brown, for instance, or even Yale. (A big reach, but, hey, why not? If you kick ass at piano, Yale has been known to accept people on the cusp of their lowest stats, and you are higher than that...) Good luck. You seem like an interesting and talented person.</p>

<p>look for a safety other than uga...'bama? ole miss? auburn? ut austin? clemson? rhodes/sewanee? lsu? mary washington? florida? texas a and m? it's always good to have multiple safeties...you don't want the decision to be made for you!</p>
