<p>OK, no blond jokes. Your SATs are low for your reaches and your ECs are weak. Decent chance for the top UCs because of high GPA, but that doesn't fly at the privates without high SATs and good ECs. Read the thread on the parent's board about the NYT article written by Reed's pres about ranpant grade inflation. High GPA with low SATs. Welcome to Cali. It's hard to believe a 4.7 could just be top 5%.</p>

<p>suze is right about your chances. Since your GPA is high, you should do fine, except at reach schools. But no harm in trying. Good luck.</p>

<p>I know that my reaches are just reaches (that's why their called reaches) but what about the other colleges and UC's...</p>

<p>In ddition to those you list as reaches, I'd add Colgate. Keep in mind there are realistic reaches and less realistic reaches. Dartmouth, for example, is highly unlikely with current scores as is JHU as any science major with a 630 math. The other privates are matches (other than NYU which will take you but give no financial aid) so 50/50.</p>

<p>I would aim for UCSD as the best chance/best school for your major.</p>

<p>Top 95% is not something you want to put on any resume, but top 5% is...</p>
