I need some help im new to this Forum so please bear with me. I've recently been accepted to Johns Hopkins, Cornell , and University of Chicago. Johns Hopkin is my number one , but i have recently been exposed to the great things at Cornell. I am a recognized scholar at University of Chicago( scholarship) . Jhons Hopkins has given me a full ride also, so im in a bigger dillema. I wanted to go into Med or Public health( epidemiology , Immunoligy). Someone help meeeee plzzzzzzzzzz............

Hey man. Nothing beats JHU with a full ride. JHU pre-med is intense but you will do great there & will become an excellent doctor. Again, congratulations!!!

I was accepted to JHU and U of C! Rejected at Cornell! Also premed!

So, my slightly more successful twin, I'm with you on this tough decision!

WOW congrats. I'd definately take the full ride to Hopkins man, cuz in terms of med, it doesnt get much better, plus for u it's FREE.

a FULL RIDE is a FULL RIDE, especially at a great school like JHU. I'd even take it over Harvard (full tuition).

First of all--congratulations. Secondly, I'm going to agree saying that a full ride at JHU is definitely the way to go. All three schools are very very good, and I obviously don't know your financial situation, but I would say you'd be crazy to turn down a full ride to JHU.

Do you guys think that Johns Hopkins Grad overshadows the undergrad, and Cornell undergrad is better??

No, I'd go to JHu with a full ride. unless cornell gave you a ton of money.

Out of curiosity, which scholarship did you get? I thought the scholarships at JHU only covered tuition.

You simply can't beat Hopkins for public health and epidemiology. At the undergrad level, only UNC is comparable.

I'd pick Hopkins with the full ride. Fantastic deal, congratulations!

the tuition scholarship then finacial aid payed for everything else

WHich one would be better for Med tho

JHU is the best for med out of your current selections. In fact it's the best for med period. the biomedical prgrm is amazing from wat i here.

JHU-fullride beats any one else with full/partial tuition in med.

I just recieved A full ride to Cornell too, and time is ticking down. Do you think I should pass up the oppourtunity to matriculate threw an Ivey-leauge University, like Cornell

nah. I'd stick with Hopkins. Choosing Cornell solely because it belongs to what I call the Crazy 8 would be like buying a shoe with a name-brand without trying it on first.

Unless Cornell has programs that appeal to you...

There is also a JHU vs. Cornell thread below. If you have full rides to both places, then you can't go wrong with your decision--they are both great. For a premed, I think you will face fierce competition either way. Academically, Hopkins owns Cornell in Med and Bio, but Cornell, being a very well-rounded school, is better otherwise virtually in every other field. Go to Hopkins if you are hard-core about Bio. Go to Cornell if your interests are broad. Hopkins if you like a big city (with occasional gunshots and Baltimore being one of the most dangerous cities in the nation); Cornell if you like a nice, serene (esp. if you like snowboarding and skiing yet somewhat secluded) environment.

It has nothing to do with being in the Ivy League and more with the fact that UChicago and JHU are probably 1,2 in least enjoyable college experiences out there.

Cornell is a great university, I have a whole bunch of friends go there. The food is good, the rural view is gorgeous. However, when you are talking about least enjoyable college experience, I don't know what you mean. Do you mean division I sports, or touchness of workload, or simply suicide rate...
I heard Cornell has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation ( and people even showed me the bridge where those victims jumped into the gorgeous lake)

Both UChicago and JHU set high standards and demand a lot. Some students want a different experience. U Chicago has been called the place where fun goes to die and JHU has been called cutthroat. The vast majority of students at both schools don't believe in the old stereotypes. They do well and thrive, academically and socially.

Don't believe the stereotype about suicides at Cornell, either. You really need to experience the environments to decide. The rumors and crap in the guidebooks and student's review can be more misleading than helpful. All of these are absolutely great schools and anyone who tries to put down any of them usually doesn't have much first hand experience. 99% of college students would be happy to have the abilities and luck to be accepted by any one of these.
