Hey everyone. I'm a high school senior and this fall I'll be beginning the process of submitting some applications to schools. I just have a few questions in general about the application process regarding extra c's, grades, etc.

Can really strong extracurriculars and passion for them balance out a not-so-stellar academic record?
-I think I present myself well outside of school with the activities I do. I've held an internship this summer at a really well-known foreign policy think tank, and the last two summers I have been a camp counselor for underprivileged children and an English "teacher" overseas in Europe. I do Model United Nations and I'm part of a youth activist club that's really prominent and I channel a lot of my passion for international relations through that club. I'm also a writer/blogger for 3 big organizations on human rights issues and international issues. So my question is, do these extracurriculars kinda balance out a 3.4 GPA average transcript?

National Society of High School Scholars?

I've heard this is the biggest scam, but of course I figured that out after I paid their $60 registration fee. Should I still list them on my common app as a national honor, or will listing it just make me look dumb?

How much of an impact does speaking many languages have in college admissions?

I'm fluent in 2 (English and my native) and I'm somewhat proficient in the other 2 (spanish and greek). If I indicate on my common app that I have an interest in pursuing a career in international affairs, will the languages help at all?

Religion..?

Should I indicate my religion on my common app? I'm Christian, but I don't know if I should put that on my common app or choose 'No affiliation'.

College Essay!
-This isn't really a question, but rather a request. I have a college essay I've been working on, and I'd like some honest opinions on it. Would anyone on here care to read it? I would PM it.

Well that's all I can think of for now, but I'd be so happy if someone could answer these questions for me! Thanks!!
